USB4CV Compliance Test Specification (February 14, 2025)

Covers the following compliance test specifications:

  1. USB4 - Host Interface CTS
  2. USB4 - USB3 Tunneling CTS
  3. USB4 - DP Tunneling CTS
  4. USB4 - Logical Layer CTS for Router Assemblies
  5. USB4 - PCIe Tunneling CTS
  6. USB4 - Protocol CTS
  7. USB4 - Time Synchronization (TMU) CTS

Equipment below are approved by the USB-IF to perform USB-IF compliance testing for the above test specifications but require the use of the USB4 CV test tool, downloadable in the documents library of this website.

USB4 Approved Oscilloscopes and BERTs

The list below is the complete list of all approved USB4 oscilloscopes and BERTs. All Scopes and BERTs meet the minimum requirements defined in the USB4 Electrical CTS. All Oscilloscopes and BERTs meet the minimum requirements defined in the USB4 Electrical CTS including TBT3 Compatibility.

USB4 Gen4 (80Gbps) Electricals Approved Oscilloscopes:

  • Keysight UXR0334B
  • Keysight UXR1102B
  • Teledyne LeCroy WaveMaster 8330HD
  • Teledyne LeCroy SDA 8330HD
  • Tektronix DPS77004SX
  • Tektronix DPO714AX

USB4 Gen4 (80Gbps) Electricals Approved BERTs:

  • Anritsu MP1900A
  • Keysight M8040A w/ remote heads M8057A or M8057B
  • Keysight M8050A w/ remote head M8058A

USB4 Gen2 (20Gbps) and USB4 Gen3 (40 Gbps) Electricals Approved Oscilloscopes:

  • Keysight Oscilloscope V, Z, and UXR series.
  • Tektronix Oscilloscope DX and SX series
  • Teledyne LeCroy Oscilloscope WaveMaster/SDA 8000HD and LabMaster 10 Zi-A Series

USB4 Gen2 (20Gbps) and USB4 Gen3 (40 Gbps) Electricals Approved BERTs:

  • Anritsu BERT MP1800 with external Emphasis box MP1825B and MP1900

  • Keysight BERT M8020/M8040 series.

Automation Software Approved for USB4 Gen2 and Gen3 Electrical Testing

Note that these solutions are not approved for USB4 Gen 4.

Both TX and RX:

  • GRL-USB4 TXv1.11 and GRL-USB4RXAv1.11 are approved for use with the Anritsu MP1900A Generator and Keysight Q-series, V-Series, Z-Series and UXR-Series Oscilloscopes
    Allion USB4v1-TX v1.0 and USB4v1-RX v1.0 are approved for use with the Anritsu MP1900A Generator and the Keysight V-Series, Z-Series and UXR-Series Oscilloscopes
  • Keysight D9040USBCv1.21.0.0 and ValiFrame USB4 Receiver Test Software v3.1.0 are approved for use with the Keysight Generator and the Keysight V-Series, Z-Series and UXR-Series Oscilloscopes

Only Tx:

  • Teledyne LeCroy QualiPHY 2 (QPHY2-USB4-TX-RX v11.3) is approved for use with the WaveMaster/SDA 8000HD and LabMaster 10 Zi-A Series Oscilloscopes
  • TekExpress Transmitter Software (v10.1.9.64)

  • GRL USB4 Return Loss Test Application with Anritsu VNA: GRL-USB4RL-AN v1.09
    • VNA: Anritsu ShockLine™ MS46524B VNA
